Location : Chestnut Bakery & Lunchroom, Bahrain
Reports to : Head Pastry Chef / Executive Chef
The Assistant Pastry Chef will support the Head Pastry Chef in preparing, producing, and presenting high-quality pastries, desserts, and baked goods for Chestnut Bakery & Lunchroom. The role requires creativity, attention to detail, and strong knowledge of pastry techniques while ensuring consistency, food safety, and brand standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation, production, and presentation of pastries, desserts, bread, and other baked goods.
- Support the Head Pastry Chef in developing new menu items and seasonal offerings.
- Maintain consistency in recipes, portioning, and presentation in line with brand standards.
- Monitor and maintain stock levels of ingredients, ensuring proper storage and minimizing wastage.
- Ensure compliance with hygiene, sanitation, and food safety standards (HACCP).
- Train, guide, and support junior pastry staff as needed.
- Assist in inventory control, ordering supplies, and cost management.
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure smooth service during operations.
- Stay updated on pastry and baking trends to bring innovation and creativity to the menu.
Qualifications & Experience
Diploma or certification in Pastry Arts, Culinary Arts, or equivalent.Minimum 2–3 years of experience in a bakery, pastry shop, or hospitality environment.Strong knowledge of baking techniques, pastry production, and dessert presentation.Experience in artisan bread, viennoiserie, and modern dessert plating is an advantage.Knowledge of HACCP and food safety standards.Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.Creativity, attention to detail, and passion for pastry and bakery.Excellent organizational and time-management skills.Strong teamwork and communication abilities.Flexibility to adapt to changing menus and operational needs.Commitment to quality, consistency, and innovation.Seniority level
