Overview
Senior Accountant will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial record‐keeping, supporting financial reporting and audits, and driving continuous improvement of financial controls. This role also involves mentoring junior accounting staff and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver financial insights to leadership and support decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow).
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts; ensure all accounting entries are properly recorded.
- Oversee and perform account reconciliations, bank reconciliations, fixed assets schedules, accrued liabilities, and other balance sheet account maintenance.
- Assist in planning and executing internal and external audits; respond to auditor inquiries; ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards (e.g. GAAP, IFRS).
- Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard assets and enhance operational efficiency.
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning. Conduct variance and trend analysis to inform business strategy.
- Supervise, train, and mentor junior accounting staff; review their work for accuracy, compliance, and consistency.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes; ensure timely, accurate processing and reporting.
- Lead or support month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring deadlines are met and deliverables prepared.
- Identify, design, and execute process improvements or automation initiatives to streamline accounting workflows and improve reporting accuracy.
- Provide ad hoc financial analysis and modeling as requested by senior management or stakeholders.
Required Qualifications / Skills
Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master's degree is a plus).Professional certification preferred (e.g. CPA, ACCA, CMA).Typically 3–5+ years (or more, depending on company size / complexity) of relevant accounting or finance experience.Solid understanding of accounting principles and standards (e.g. GAAP, IFRS) and strong technical accounting knowledge.Advanced proficiency with Excel (formulas, pivot tables, modeling) and experience working with accounting / ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, QuickBooks, etc.).Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with strong attention to detail.Good communication skills (written and verbal), with ability to present financial information to non-financial stakeholders and senior leadership.Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines.High levels of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism in handling financial and sensitive data.Leadership aptitude : ability to coach, guide, and review junior staff's work.Job Details
