Electrical Instructor – Job Description
Reporting to the Head of Technical Training, the Electrical Instructor prepares curriculum, training manuals, and materials, and delivers technical training to designated employees and other company staff.
Key Result Areas (All Roles)
- Conduct training needs analysis (TNA) and develop appropriate training programs, including but not limited to externally accredited Diploma & Certificate courses.
- Assist in developing unit technology‑specific lesson plans and supplemental instructional materials to deliver required knowledge, skills and attitude among the trainees.
- Deliver competency based technical training relevant to electrical systems for all units, infrastructure, equipment, systems, and subsystems in the BMP refinery to prepare Electricians for greenfield start‑up, current plant operations and future positions of the BMP.
- Administer and deliver consistent unit‑specific assessment, instruction and validation to electrical trainees, including but not limited to electrical needs for :
Scheduled and preventive maintenance
Shutdowns and turnaroundsReliability and condition monitoringHazardous area training, classification and certificationHigh voltage switching and associated equipment trainingRefresher trainingAscertain that all training solutions are developed to enhance employee competency to maintain electrical requirements for all process plants during normal, emergency, and shutdown situations, safely and effectively.Maintain accurate and detailed records of trainee performance and progress and provide on‑the‑job support and guidance during and after the training event to ensure effective transfer of learning to the job.Follow Bapco’s strategic plan to provide effective provision of training closely aligned to the Competency Framework and OE processes.Evaluate and continuously update training courses to meet competency framework requirements and ensure that training solutions are in line with industry best practice.Act independently regarding developing, scheduling and delivery with all associated in‑house communication.Establish and develop independent contacts with external suppliers as required and in developing training interventions for concerned departments to decide the most appropriate refresher and up‑skilling training requirements.Knowledge, Skills, And Experience
Minimum bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.Minimum of 7 years’ work experience of which a minimum of 3 years preferably in developing, conducting, and administering training programs for oil refineries or large process industries.Certified Assessor / Internal Verifier for Competency Based Assessment is preferred.Should be trained as a technical instructor with the ability to deliver general plant and process engineering learning modules.Work experience in oil & gas industry, preferably petroleum refining.Must have broad experience and familiarity gained from a wide range of refinery process units, such as electrical substations, HV motors, VSD, electrical generators, UPS and associated equipment.In‑depth knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models. Lesson and curriculum planning skills.Ability to write effective instructional text, audio and video scripts.A good understanding of learning management systems is beneficial.About Us
