Job Purpose
Yokogawa, a global leader in industrial automation and an OEM provider of advanced process control systems, is seeking a Sales Proposal Engineer to support our sales and bidding activities. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in the back-end sales process by preparing accurate technical and commercial proposals for Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC)-based Emergency Shutdown Systems (ESD), SCADA systems, and other industrial automation solutions in the assigned territory.
Responsibilities
- Analyze customer RFQs (Request for Quotations) and specifications to prepare accurate technical and commercial proposals.
- Estimate costs and develop pricing strategies for automation systems including DCS, PLC, ESD, and SCADA.
- Collaborate with sales, engineering, and project teams to ensure alignment of proposals with customer requirements and company capabilities.
- Assist in defining scope, system architecture, and hardware / software requirements for proposals.
- Work with internal tools and databases to generate bills of materials and quotations.
- Support bid reviews and clarify technical aspects with customers as needed.
- Ensure timely submission of proposals while maintaining high accuracy and competitiveness.
- Stay updated with industry trends, competitor offerings, and new technologies.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation, Electrical, Electronics, or related engineering field.3–6 years of experience in sales support, estimation, or proposal engineering within the automation or process control industry.Prior experience working with Yokogawa systems or similar OEM platforms.Strong understanding of DCS, PLC, SCADA, and ESD systems.Proficiency in reading P&IDs, control philosophies, and technical specifications.Excellent communication and documentation skills.Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.Hands-on experience with Yokogawa CENTUM, ProSafe-RS, FAST / TOOLS, or similar platforms.Exposure to project bidding in Oil & Gas, Power, Chemicals, or other process industries.Competencies
Strong knowledge of Distributed Control Systems (DCS), PLC-based systems, Emergency Shutdown Systems (ESD), and SCADA platforms.Experience in preparing technical and commercial proposals for industrial automation projects.Ability to interpret technical documents such as P&IDs, control philosophies, instrument lists, and system architecture diagrams.Familiarity with Yokogawa platforms (e.g., CENTUM VP, ProSafe-RS, FAST / TOOLS) and / or systems from competitive OEMs (e.g., Emerson DeltaV, Honeywell Experion, ABB 800xA, Siemens PCS 7, Schneider EcoStruxure).Proficiency in cost estimation, BOM creation, and proposal generation tools.Basic knowledge of industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Profibus, HART, OPC).Understanding of project bidding processes, especially in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Power, or Water / Wastewater industries.Excellent communication and presentation skills (verbal and written).Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail.Ability to work both independently and as part of a cross-functional team.Good time management and ability to meet tight deadlines.Customer-oriented mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving.Yokogawa is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
