Overview
The Custodian performs a variety of cleaning, housekeeping, and semiskilled duties for CYP facilities : facility cleaning, equipment maintenance, laundering, minor facility repairs, outdoor maintenance; and maintaining inventories of cleaning supplies. They deliver supplies, merchandise, and equipment to other CYP facilities. As needed, they move furniture and / or program equipment, and assist with event setup.
Responsibilities
- All custodial and housekeeping services are performed according to established specifications. Child and youth routines are not disturbed by custodial activities. Daily cleaning may occur when programs are not in operation.
- Cleaning : sweep, mop, strip, scrub, wax, polish floors; clean carpets; wipe mirrors, bathroom and kitchen fixtures; clean surfaces in activity spaces, doorframes, switches, and dispensers; clean glass, windows, and use ladders to change light bulbs; dust and polish furniture and equipment (not within reach of children); empty and wash trashcans.
- Inspect grounds for safety hazards and maintain restrooms in a clean, sanitary condition with cleaning, disinfecting, and deodorizing as needed.
- Equipment and supplies : operate powered cleaning equipment, maintain and replace parts, store supplies properly, and ensure unobstructed hallways and entrances during operations.

- Additional responsibilities : move, set up, and / or rearrange furniture; set up and break down for special events; comply with security, fire, sanitation rules and regulations.
- Mandatory reporting to Family Advocacy and Child Protective Services as prescribed by local policy in cases of suspected child abuse or neglect.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Must satisfactorily complete all background checks for child care positions, including fingerprint checks, Tier 1 / Child Care check, and SCHR check.Must pass a pre-employment physical, provide immunization evidence, be free of communicable diseases, and obtain appropriate immunizations.Ability to sustain considerable walking, standing, bending, stooping, and lifting up to 50 pounds.Must be 18 years of age or older and a U.S. citizen.Must obtain and maintain appropriate security clearance as needed.Ability to complete required training certificates and maintain certifications required by Federal, State, and / or national accreditation institutions used as part of DoD’s Child and Youth Programs.Starting May 7, 2025, non-affiliated individuals requesting access will need a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or another acceptable form of identification to access CNRMA Installations.Participation in Direct Deposit / Electronic Funds Transfer within the first 30 days of employment is required.Must have a high school diploma or GED; employment contingent upon proof of education if not provided at time of application.Must be a U.S. citizen.Qualifications
Resumes must demonstrate experience and knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) related to the position.Knowledge of a variety of chemical and cleaning agents.Ability to operate a variety of household and industrial cleaning equipment and attachments; adjust powered cleaning equipment.Physical ability to move furniture and objects over 50 pounds; walk, bend, stoop, and stand routinely.Effective English communication, both oral and written, with strong interpersonal skills.Education
