The Healthcare Assistant (HCA) provides essential support to nursing and clinical teams in delivering high-quality, compassionate care to patients in a long-term and rehabilitation setting. The HCA assists patients with daily living activities, ensures comfort and safety, and supports clinical staff with basic medical and administrative tasks.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
1. Patient Care & Support
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, grooming, toileting, feeding, and mobility.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to patients, fostering a caring and respectful environment.
- Monitor patients’ conditions, such as taking and recording vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure).
- Report any changes in patient health or behavior promptly to the nursing team.
2. Clinical Assistance
Support nurses and therapists during rehabilitation sessions and clinical procedures.Assist in repositioning and transferring patients safely to prevent bedsores and ensure comfort.Help maintain accurate patient records, charts, and documentation as required.Ensure infection control standards and hygiene practices are followed at all times.3. Operational Support
Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of patient areas, equipment, and supplies.Prepare and serve meals, ensuring dietary requirements are followed.Safely transport patients within the facility (to therapy rooms, diagnostic areas, etc.).Assist in the safe handling and disposal of clinical waste.4. Compliance & Professional Conduct
Adhere to hospital policies, Bahrain’s Ministry of Health regulations, and international best practices.Participate in training, workshops, and continuing education as directed.Maintain confidentiality and respect the dignity of all patients.Follow health and safety procedures to minimize risks to patients and staff.Qualifications & Requirements
Education : Secondary School Certificate or equivalent; Diploma / Certificate in Healthcare Assistance preferred.Experience : Minimum 1–2 years’ experience as a Healthcare Assistant, Nursing Aide, or similar role (experience in long-term care / rehabilitation preferred).Skills & Competencies :Compassionate and patient-centered approach.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Basic clinical knowledge (vital signs, infection control, hygiene).Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.Physically fit to handle patient transfers and mobility support.Language : Proficiency in English is required; Arabic knowledge is an advantage.#J-18808-Ljbffr
