Main Activities / Responsibilities

• As part of our teaching team, deliver a range of taught modules at UG level, with guidance from senior colleagues as required, in a manner that supports a research-informed approach to student learning.
• Plan and manage own workload (teaching, tutorials, assessment, administration, and scholarship), with guidance from colleagues as required.
• Develop new content, teaching materials and methods of delivery, using appropriate teaching and learning approaches, with guidance, to ensure that defined learning objectives are met.
• Undertake student assessment and examination activities, with guidance, including the provision of appropriate feedback to students.
• Supervise students as required, providing direction, support, and guidance.
• Critically evaluate and reflect on teaching practice and methodology and collaborate with colleagues on programme development activities and in the planning and implementation of curriculum changes.
• Contribute to scholarship activities, continually updating professional knowledge and skills and incorporating this learning as appropriate into teaching delivery.
• Collaborate with colleagues on the development of knowledge exchange activities by, for example, participating in initiatives which establish educational links with industry and influence public policy and the professions.
• Contribute in a developing capacity to Department / School, Faculty and / or University administrative and management functions and committees.
• Contribute to cognate research activities by providing specialist input based on professional expertise, experience, and qualifications / registration.
• Engage in continuous professional development, which may include establishing, in a developing capacity, a personal portfolio of research activity.

Qualification Required

Good honours degree in Mechanical Engineering and a PhD in an appropriate discipline or equivalent professional experience.
