Job descriptionThe position of Engineer DCS is involved in working independently on managing approved projects and providing 24x7 support related to ICS and OT, under minimal supervision of the Senior Engineer DCS. The job holder needs to use software tools / applications such as Foundation Fieldbus builder, Engineering Station builder, and DCS subsystems such as Machine Condition Monitoring (MCM) and Speed Governor to fulfill job requirements. Explore and evaluate potential implementation of new state-of-the-art technologies and digitalization in OT under the supervision of the Senior Engineer DCS. Engineer DCS is primarily responsible to ensure high availability, reliability, and integrity of ICS including the DCS to maintain continuous system functionality for end users. In liaison with the Senior Engineer DCS, take technical decisions on network functionality such as risk evaluation, incident response plans, and security audits and administrative decisions such as developing DCS guidelines. Authorized to take all technical decisions to meet project requirements per Company standards and international codes. Work with minimum supervision but discuss critical decisions with the Senior Engineer DCS / Superintendent and have work reviewed against performance measures. Must work within tight budgetary constraints with potential over-runs subject to scrutiny. Evaluate use of systems and products on all approved projects and certain expense projects handled by the Section. Ensure security strategy, policies, procedures, and standards are adhered to while implementing projects and servicing business needs of end users. Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Control Engineering, Instrumentation, Electrical or Electronics or equivalent. Minimum 7 years of experience in the oil refining, oil and gas production, or petrochemical industries. Thorough knowledge of ICS including DCS engineering such as Logic Charts, Sequence Tables, Subsystems interfacing, and industrial networks and protocols. Thorough knowledge of International Standards (ISO, ISA, IEC, NIST, etc.) and best practices related to cyber security. Experience in handling projects and providing engineering support services for ICS and OT in an operating refinery environment. Ability to articulate technical DCS advice directly to key stakeholders and Senior Management. Excellent analytical and interpersonal communication skills, both oral and written. Ability to write clear and concise reports, letters, proposals, memoranda, and presentations.

Job Description
Configure, monitor, and support Industrial Control Systems (ICS), such as Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), System packages, Vibration Monitoring Systems, Flow Computers, and Auxiliary Automation Systems under supervision of the Senior Engineer DCS or PLC Senior Engineer for all Bapco Refining operating facilities and systems.
- Provision of 24 / 7 support services and ensure availability and reliability of ICS including the DCS / PLC to maintain continuous system functionality for end users under minimal supervision of the Senior Engineer DCS.
- Support the Senior Engineer in advising Company Management on gap identification, system enhancements and technology selection associated with ICS to ensure continuous system reliability and extend the system virtual lifecycle.
- Execute approved projects related to ICS and OT and ensure timely completion of projects without compromising cost, quality, and HSE.
- Ensure updates of all Instrumentation and Automation documents published on the Document Management System (DMS).
- Support engineering incident investigations to propose / implement recommendations for solving identified problems.
