Job description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Commis I Pastry to join our dynamic culinary team. The ideal candidate will play a key role in our pastry section, contributing to the preparation of a variety of delectable desserts and pastries while maintaining high standards of quality and cleanliness. This position is perfect for an enthusiastic individual passionate about baking and dessert creation.

  • Establish and maintain effective employee relations within the team.
  • Provide daily updates to the Chef de Partie regarding all operational and personal matters.
  • Prepare all bakery items on schedule, ensuring they meet quality and quantity standards.
  • Complete daily food requisitions as assigned by the Chef de Partie.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in all assigned areas, including refrigerators and freezers.
  • Control costs by minimizing spoilage and waste, practicing proper storage techniques, and adhering to strict portion control.
  • Ensure compliance with all cost control policies and procedures set by the culinary team.
  • Attend training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge within the pastry field.
  • Report any equipment issues in the section that require repair or maintenance.
  • Ensure the freshness and suitability of products used in the section and guarantee proper storage practices.
  • Follow all recipes as prescribed by the Executive Chef to maintain consistency in our offerings.
  • Adhere to all operational policies and procedures established by the company.
  • Caramelize various nuts and prepare ingredients for a wide range of sponge cakes, cheesecakes, and other pastry items according to sub-recipes.
  • Forecast weekly production needs for the pastry section.
  • Ensure the smooth operation of the section in the absence of the Demi Chef de Partie.
  • Perform common duties associated with the Commis position, along with any additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications :

  • Previous experience in a similar role within a culinary environment is preferred.
  • Strong passion for pastry and baking with a creative flair.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work well in a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of quality.
  • Ability to follow recipes and procedures accurately.
  • Must be adaptable to various tasks as needed.
