Compliance Officer & MLRO
Bank ABC Islamic seeks a Compliance Officer & MLRO to be based at the Head Office in Bahrain. The role will implement and operationalise policies and procedures related to financial crime compliance and ensure the Bank’s compliance with the Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB) regulations and other applicable laws.
Responsibilities
- Oversight of the Bank’s overall compliance with the requirements of the CBB and other applicable laws and regulations; and adherence to the relevant Group-wide Policies, Standards and Procedures.
- Raising awareness and providing training for the Bank’s staff on compliance issues, including circulation of updated CBB rules.
- Performing quality assurance tests to ensure compliance with the CBB Rulebook.
- Ensuring compliance with the Financial Crime Module of the CBB Rulebook, AML Law and other applicable AML / CFT legislation.
- Establishing and maintaining the Bank’s AML / CFT policies and procedures.
- Ensuring day-to-day compliance with the Bank’s internal AML / CFT policies and Group-issued procedures.
- Providing guidance to stakeholders on AML-related issues.
- Monitoring adherence to national and international sanction programs.
- Reporting critical money laundering issues to Senior Management.
- Producing annual reports on the effectiveness of the Bank’s AML / CFT controls.
- Acting as the main contact for internal suspicious transaction reports and external reporting to the Financial Intelligence Unit, the CBB, and other bodies.
- Assuming additional MLRO responsibilities as updated by the CBB or Group.
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum of 7 years in the banking industry, including at least 3 years in an anti-money laundering or related role.Bachelor’s Degree in Banking, Finance or a related major.Professional compliance certification such as ACAMS, ICA Diploma in Governance, Risk and Compliance, or a related AML / Financial Crime certification.Strong knowledge of AML & CFT, Islamic banking products, bank operations, and Sharia guidelines.Fluency in Arabic and English, both written and spoken.Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills.Demonstrated integrity, ethics, independence, and resilience.Strong time‑management and ability to work in a dynamic environment.Self‑motivated and accountable for completing tasks.Seniority Level
