Maintenance Supervisor – Harsco Environmental
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate activities of mechanics, technicians, and personnel involved in maintenance for heavy equipment and fixed plant.
- Plan and schedule preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs to minimize downtime.
- Ensure the highest standards of safety in maintenance activities and workplaces.
- Ensure all equipment is maintained in a safe and proper manner, protecting personnel and equipment from damage or injury; audit and train maintenance workers, subcontractors, and suppliers in safety procedures including shop and stores housekeeping.
- Train, mentor, and evaluate team members to build technical skills and promote safe work practices.
- Conduct daily inspections to ensure a clean and safe workplace for maintenance workers.
- Ensure lubricants and parts are stored safely and properly.
- Manage maintenance work orders and weekly maintenance plan adherence; ensure planning optimization and crew utilization.
- Assign maintenance tasks on a daily shift basis from the weekly maintenance plan and from equipment defect reports for breakdown repairs as they occur.
- Audit and train maintenance crews in the usage of best practices to accomplish repairs.
- Ensure planned preventive maintenance is strictly adhered to and performed in a timely manner.
- Perform equipment condition inspections during each PM and complete an Equipment Defect Report for all defects; develop BOMs for repairs and submit to Maintenance Planner.
- Distribute weekly maintenance schedule to maintenance workers as needed and manage prints or displays of schedules and repair orders.
- Assist in prioritizing repair work through consultation with the Maintenance Planner, Production Supervisor, and Site Manager.
- Assist in estimating labor requirements and repair time for all repair work orders via consultation with the Maintenance Planner.
- Obtain lists of necessary parts for repair tasks from maintenance workers and create requests for the Maintenance Planner.
- Assist maintenance personnel and the Planner in obtaining technical information needed to complete repairs.
- Coordinate with support contractors for maintenance work as needed.
- Support planning by developing the weekly maintenance plan one week in advance and reviewing it with stakeholders by noon Tuesday prior to the following week.
- Participate in weekly meetings with site leadership to review plans and grant final approval for the following week’s maintenance plan.
- Review the final maintenance plan after meetings and notify Maintenance Planner of any last-minute changes.
- Assist Maintenance Planner in critical path planning of major repairs requiring longer shutdowns with assistance from Production Supervisor.
- Promptly respond to oil analysis (SOS) alerts to prevent serious equipment damage.
- Evaluate Oil Analysis Reports and trends to predict component failures.
- Assist maintenance workers and subcontractors in diagnosis and troubleshooting; perform root cause analysis as needed for chronic issues.
- Consult with Maintenance Manager on potential serious problems and predictive maintenance needs as required.
- Complete Defect Reports from defects identified by maintenance workers and forward to Maintenance Planner; audit and train equipment operators in daily inspections; review and audit daily reports for accuracy.
- Ensure all activities are recorded in the workshop and LOTO books; sign off on all documents.
- Performs cycle counts on parts inventories as needed and ensure proper requisitions are issued from inventory.
- Interface with equipment vendors and parts suppliers as needed; provide technical and practical support to the Maintenance Planner to develop reports and data on the equipment fleet.
- On a monthly basis, review with Maintenance Manager and Maintenance Planner KPIs to explain variance and anomalies from the maintenance operating plan.
Qualifications
High school diploma required; technical degree or certifications in heavy equipment maintenance preferred.10 to 15 years of experience in heavy equipment maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, transmissions, and electrical systems.Ability to read equipment manuals and schematics.Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.Additional Information
