Amazon's vision is to be the world's most customer-centric company, and this role is key to delivering that vision. The Fleet Remediation Engineering (FRE) team delivers designs that support our operational data centers to meet ever-evolving customer needs as we continue scale our fleet.
As Project Design Electrical Engineer you will lead design projects in operational Data Centers that remediate emergent issues, upgrade existing infrastructure and add new services. You will provide lifecycle support from design through to implementation - working closely with stakeholders to deliver projects on schedule and to budget.
You will use your electrical expertise to :
- Own the design for data center projects and design-solutions which add infrastructure, capacity, improve availability, and / or increase sustainability.
- Perform design and equipment submittal review for Data Centers in your region.
- Interface with internal and external data center design engineering team, server hardware team,environmental health and safety team, field engineering, and controls engineering to promote standards that maintain consistency and reliability in services delivered.
- Work on concurrent projects in multiple geographical regions.
- Develop into a technical subject matter expert
- Support construction, commissioning, operations, and turnover.

Work with internal teams to understand user requirements.Carry out designs & calculations to meet project requirementsManage design consultancy firms to generate, review and release data center designsManage change, versioning and configuration control.Draft and approval of project scopes, request for proposals (RFP) and request for information (RFI).Work with commissioning teams to validate installation, operation, and performance of systemsTravel for site review and conduct engineering evaluations, audits, and site launchesReview and approve equipment submittalsWork with internal teams to trouble shoot problems and conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Corrective Action (CA) for design related problemsWork with regional vendors and manufactures to specify the appropriate mechanical equipment.Provide technical support for information requests during construction phases.Offer offer creative, out of the box solutionsUp to 30% travel in EMEA region including but limited to Ireland, Germany, Spain, Israel, UAE, KSA and South Africa.A day in the life
Each day you will interact with different teams responsible for various aspects of the data centers. You will mentor and oversee the work of junior engineers in your discipline. You will have the opportunity to work on projects locally and globally, with up to 30% travel.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.6+ cumulative years of design experience with industrial or commercial engineering in Mission Critical facilities including but not limited to : data centers, power generation, oil / gas facilities. (Experienced Engineer)PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to work cross-functionally to solve problems.Organized and have the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines and budgetPossess leadership and problem-solving skillsExperience using a variety of web based and other software tools for calculation and data processing.Direct experience with the design, construction, operation, or maintenance of mission critical facilities, especially data centers.Experience as resident design engineer or hands-on (in the field) design consultant.Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region.Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.Ability to carry design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment / mass productionPossess excellent communication and writing skills, attention to detail, maintain high quality standardsBasic understanding of both mechanical and electrical equipment / design related to data center electrical and mechanical topologyEPMS / SCADA / BMS Controls system experience (software and / or hardware)Registered Professional EngineerAdvanced degree in engineering, business, or related field.Have fluent knowledge of continuous operating redundant electrical systems, cooling systems, air flow containment and building management systemsMeets / exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this roleMeets / exceeds Amazon’s functional / technical depth and complexity for this roleOur inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers.
